What is CTA?

Call To Action. The button or text that tells the viewer what to do next: 'Shop Now', 'Try Free', 'Learn More'. Specific CTAs ('Get 30% Off Today') outperform generic ones ('Learn More') by 2-3x.

In mani: Mani generates platform-specific CTAs matched to your ad objective.

What makes a CTA effective

Specific CTAs outperform generic ones by 2-3x. "Get 30% Off Today" beats "Learn More." "Try Free for 14 Days" beats "Sign Up." The CTA should tell the viewer exactly what happens when they click and what they get. Ambiguity in the CTA creates friction. Clarity creates clicks.

Platform-specific CTA conventions

Meta: primary CTA button options include Shop Now, Learn More, Sign Up, Download, Contact Us. Instagram Stories: swipe-up or link sticker. TikTok: Shop Now, Learn More (limited options). LinkedIn: Visit Website, Learn More, Sign Up. The platform constrains your CTA button text, but you can reinforce it with in-creative text that is more specific.

CTA placement in ad creative

In static images, the CTA should be visible without reading the full copy. Bottom-right or bottom-center placement with a contrasting button color works best. In video ads, the CTA should appear in the final 3-5 seconds AND as a persistent text overlay. In carousels, the final slide is the CTA slide and should contain no other competing information.

Testing CTAs

CTA text is the easiest element to A/B test because changing it does not require new creative production. Generate 3 ad variants with identical visuals but different CTAs. Run them simultaneously. After 1000 impressions each, the winner is clear. Most brands find their winning CTA pattern within 2-3 tests and reuse it across campaigns.
