What is Product Shot?
A photograph of your actual product, typically on a clean background. Product shots are the foundation of DTC advertising because customers expect to see what they are buying.
In mani: Mani composites your real product photos into AI-generated lifestyle scenes.
Product photography for ads
Product shots serve one purpose: show the customer exactly what they are buying. Clean background (white or light gray) for catalog-style shots. Lifestyle context (product in use, in a real environment) for aspiration. Detail shots (texture, ingredients, packaging) for consideration. Every DTC brand needs all three types. AI tools can composite your clean product shots into lifestyle scenes, eliminating the need for expensive location shoots.
Technical requirements by platform
Meta feed: 1080x1080px minimum (1:1) or 1080x1350px (4:5, recommended for more screen space). Instagram Stories/Reels: 1080x1920px (9:16). TikTok: 1080x1920px. Product images should be high-resolution (300 DPI source) even if the platform compresses them. White-background product shots should be pure white (#FFFFFF) for clean compositing into ad templates. Include at least 1cm of padding around the product.
AI-enhanced product shots
AI tools transform basic product photos into ad-ready creative in three ways: background replacement (swap white background for lifestyle setting), scene composition (place product in a styled flat-lay or room scene), and format adaptation (crop and reframe for different aspect ratios). The product remains your real photo; the AI generates the surrounding context. This produces 10-20 lifestyle variations from a single clean product shot in minutes.
